Hachiko was born in 1923 in Odate, Japan. He was adopted by a professor at the University of Tokyo, Hidesaburo Ueno. Every day, Hachiko would wait for his owner at the Shibuya train station, and greet him when he returned from work. This continued until one day, when Professor Ueno did not return.
Hachiko continued to wait for his owner at the train station for the next nine years, until his death in 1935. His loyalty and devotion to his owner has been remembered in Japan and around the world.
Today, a bronze statue of Hachiko stands at the Shibuya train station, and is a popular spot for visitors to take pictures. Coloring pages of Hachiko are a great way to learn about this beloved dog and his story.
