Alexander Nevskiy was born in 1220 in Pereslavl-Zalessky, a city in the Grand Duchy of Vladimir-Suzdal. He was the son of Grand Prince Yaroslav II Vsevolodovich and his second wife, Feodosia. He was the younger brother of Grand Prince Andrei II of Vladimir-Suzdal.

Alexander Nevskiy was a great military leader and strategist. He was able to defeat the Teutonic Knights in the Battle of the Ice in 1242, which was a major victory for the Russian people. He was also able to defeat the Swedes in the Battle of the Neva in 1240.
